Itinerary

Paris in the Spring and as well as late summer, is one of my favourite times to visit, it is truly one of the most exciting cities in the world to explore and photograph. This Travel & Street photography Adventure gives you the opportunities to learn all the inside tips and tricks you need to know on how to capture amazing cityscapes, people images, architecture and amazing nightscape as we walk the back street of Paris.

Day One

The Paris Photo Tour begins at our hotel at 3:00 pm with an orientation to get to know each other and go over the agenda and final tour itinerary for the next 4 days. Martial and/or Jacques will give you a short tutorial on how to set your camera to take the perfect short every time and how to use of your histogram.

Due to prices structure, exchange rate and room availability, we don’t always stay in the same hotel, however we always stay central. Address will be confirm in due time.

There are some beautiful landmarks and squares just a step from the precinct of Le Marais and La Sorbonne, where we will start our photography journey exploring the streets of Paris. But first we will point out the DOS AND DON’T rules and how to enjoy a stress free 4 days while discovering Paris, and if you’re game we’;; even teach you a few French words. We will have an early dinner tonight and head out for some Blue Light and nightscape photography along La Seine and also check out Le Louvre Fountains’ at dusk. If the place is not too crowed, it is an excellent opportunity to work our long exposure setting and strive to capture a few pearlers!

Day Two

For those who wish to experience the early light, Martial & Jacques will offer a pre-breakfast session close to the hotel. One of our favourite spot to take sunrise pictures in Paris this time of the year is at the Pont des Arts with l’Ile de la Cité in the background.

After breakfast we spend the day exploring the captivating French capital and as you will discover, there is much more to photograph than the Eiffel Tower while in Paris. Today we stroll over the old cobblestones of the most photographed city in the world; A journey through French history, revolutions and fashion, while capturing iconic landmarks as well as a selection of our favourite hidden gems along the Seine river, Les Halles, Ile de la Cité, Notre Dame and Quartiers Latin.

There is plenty more in store after lunch.

Dinner is in one of the many fine and off-the-beaten-track restaurants.

Day Three

A well deserved sleep-in this morning and after a leisurely breakfast we’ll make our way to Montmartre where Van Gogh and Pablo Picasso once lived, then upwards to the Sacre-Coeur for the best panoramic view of the City of Light. There is plenty of stairs to test your fitness as we climb to the top of the Basilica, however the view for up there is well worth the efforts.

After lunch will explore Belleville, the perfect place to put in practice your street photography and then La Petite Ceinture du 15e, a 36 km long old train line built around Paris between 1852 – 1869.

We kept the very best for last with a City of lights by night photo tour. Walk the famous Champs Elysees, Place Charles de Gaulle and the majestic Arc de Triomphe built to commemorate Napoleon’s victories and just before sunset, a roof top views of Paris’ amazing cityscape and a well deserved pre dinner Cocktail.

Optional free night to your leisure or join us for a late meal at one of our favorite Parisian bistro.

Day Four

We saved the really best for last, this morning before breakfast we’ll make our way to the Eiffel Tower via the Trocadéro for sunrise, la Seine and le Champ de Mars as we watch the Paris wake up. We will have the place nearly to ourselves at this time of day and will experience the magical early morning sun glowing lighting the 324 meters tall Iron Lady. The perfect place to put in practice everything you’ve learned over the past 3 days and experience some of Paris most extraordinary landmarks without the crowd.

Time and weather permitting we’ll adventure for a short walk across the Gardin des Tuilleries and the Louvre before heading back to the hotel to collect our suitcases and say our goodbyes. Our tour ends after lunch. Easy transfer and public transportation to major train stations and airports are available daily.

Paris in Spring is a must do, the city is in full bloom, sprinkled with shades of pink, magnolia blossoms, apple blossoms, cherry blossoms and finally chestnuts.

September has a warmer and more peaceful end of summer feel, but equally as nice and romantic.

A perfect add-on before your PARIS Photo Tour is our ZERMATT PHOTO TOUR or following straight after our PARIS TOUR join us on our VENICE – CINQUE TERRE & TUSCANY Photo Tour extension.

Personal Items and Weather Conditions – Paris Photo Tour

Temperature can range from: 12C to 20C in May and 18C to 25C Aug-Sept

Average monthly rain for this time of year: 10day/ May and 8day/ Aug-Sept

Be organized and pack smart. Sturdy shoes, hat and sunscreen are essential. We will email you a more detailed and updated recommendation list on what to bring with your booking confirmation depending on the time of the years and weather conditions. I recommend packing a basic easy to grab jacket or lightweight rain coat, etc. in a smaller backpack or in your camera bag in case the weather changes suddenly.

Light weight rain jacket and rain pants. You don’t have to go all out here, but it will also help you to keep warm at night. * I really suggest a rain jacket if nothing else, the rain gear will keep you dry when walking in the parks. I have a pair of Teflon rain pants & jacket, super light and perfect to keep in you camera bag in case of a sudden change in the weather.

A warm jacket, long trousers and a jumper or light jacket during Spring & the late summer month is a must. It can get really cold late afternoon with the sea breeze all year round.

Hat and sun screen protection.

Equipment

Camera Equipment

Your favourite DSLR camera, a multi focal lens (i.e 18-70mm) or fix lens, the wider the angle the better, and a medium to long-range lens (i.e. 80-300mm), plenty of memory cards and fully charged batteries. A small steady tripod & cable release for long exposure is essential. Don’t forget to bring your camera manual if you are not 100% sure about your camera functions. Please note that for better results a recent DSLR digital camera is preferable (0-5yrs old) as technology changes. Polarizer filter, Neutral Density and grabs filters are not a prerequisite but are great tools to have for long exposure and colour saturation.

This workshop is suitable for beginners and advanced photographers of all ages, however a good sense of humour and minimum fitness is recommended. Sturdy shoes, suitable warm cloths, drink bottle and a good camera bag!
