Blue Tongue Tours – Frequently Asked Questions

Blue Tongue Photogrophy Tours / Blue Tongue Tours – Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What equipment should I bring?

Your favourite camera and lens, plenty of memory cards, fully charged batteries. Polarizer filter, Neutral Density and grabs filters are not a prerequisite but are great tools to have for long exposure and colour saturation. Don’t forget to bring your camera manual and a tripod if you have one.

Q2. Can I bring other people on my tour?

We often get asked if it is OK to bring along a partner/ friend who doesn’t want to photograph. If they are happy to be patient with your photography then we are happy to show them the pleasure of slow travel.

For small groups, please email us.

Q3. Do I need a tripod?

A tripod is recommended for any of our tours, especially for landscape and night photography. If you don’t have one, or you’re not travelling with one, we can lend you one for the duration of the tour. Just let us know at time of booking so we have enough advance notice.

Q4. Do you take group booking?

Yes, we often get asked to organize day trip/ workshops and extended Photo Tours for local and international education departments agency, schools, camera clubs, social groups as well as events and conferences organisers.

For groups, please email us.

Q5. How much time at each location?

We guarantee a wealth of photography opportunities, including one-to-one support tailored to your individual needs while on-location learning the importance of image composition, available light and night photography techniques.

As it is our own personalized photo tour itineraries, we can stop when and where we want! When the conditions and the light are prefect and everyone is enjoying a location we tempt to spend a little more time there and make up time somewhere else along the way.

Q6. Do I need a DSLR?

No, you don’t need a DSLR. We work will all kinds of cameras including phone cameras, point and shoot cameras, bridge cameras, film cameras and DSLR. With simpler cameras, we will focus more on composition, framing and finding the best spots to take great images. If you are taking a tour that extends into night time, we do ask that your camera is possible of shooting at least 20 seconds or have a bulb setting and that you can set your lens to manual focus.

Q7. What happens if it rains?

If availability permits it, we can change the date of the tour at no additional cost. However as we can’t control the weather it is a good practice to think outside the box, a chance to create strong and unique images, use the clouds, play in the rain, visualise your images printed on Black & White canvas or large format Art Paper!

Q8. Do you offer tours in other languages?

All of our tours operate in English and French. Additionally we are happy to offer the tours in other languages (min. participant number apply). Please contact us before booking to make sure the guide with your language is available for the tour.

Q9. What is the fitness level requirement?

Each of our tours has it’s own minimum level of fitness requirement, check under the individual tour itinerary – TAB: Requirement // Title: Level of Physical Difficulty. Some itinerary can be modified and amended to suit guests who are not as fit as they used to or with some walking restrictions.

For private itinerary or special requirement, please email us.

Q10. Travel insurance?

Travel insurance on all extended tours within Australia and/ or international destinations is a prerequisite. Please check individual tour terms and conditions for more details.

If you can’t afford travel insurance, you can’t afford to travel!

Q11. Why can’t I book a tour for today on your website?

Our system closes down the ability to book at tour once the tour is fully booked or 24 hours before the start of a tour to ensure our photographers have enough advance notice. At times, we can still operate a tour at short notice, but you will need to email us directly to sort out the details.
